I Wonder What It's All About

"In time our soul untold
I'm just another soul for sale... oh, well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent
We're temporary, temporary
Same old story

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

I'm the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face
Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right
I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that will take you down
Bring you to your knees"
-- 'The Pretender' - Foo Fighters

A mighty pain to love it is,
And 'tis a pain that pain to miss;
But of all pains, the greatest pain
It is to love, but love in vain.
-Abraham Cowley

.personality. Icarus comes in multiple flavors; he's a warrior, for one, a true Leroy Jenkins type. Forsaking strategy and planning, he prefers to use his gut and dive in headfirst. If not for the quick wits his genetics blessed him with, he wouldn't have made it out of his first century alive. ( Charred, scratched, and with stitches in places he didn't know he'd had, but alive. ) When he's not out adventuring- sneaking out- or serving a slice of justice- starting fights- he's quite the lazy bum, lying around in Apollo's garden all day and listening to Lethe's stories.
Regardless, he's a charmer when he wants to be. A lady-aholic, he enjoys the company of the opposite gender as much as an addict enjoys a new stash. And the men, well, they're great too. Especially Sarutahiko, the he-god Icarus is impossibly head over heels for. ( This does not stop him from wandering off at his leisure. )
Speaking of wandering, the man has a wander-lust that could rival Indiana Jones. It's a thirst for new terrian, a place away from the basin were he can breathe, drink in the newness and shiver at the sensation of being in the unknown. And perhaps he likes the attention disobeying gets him.
When wrapped up nice and pretty, Icarus is a pure cowboy- a good fellow at heart, he sets morals for himself and tries his best to live by them, though he's prone to slip up here and there. Sometimes. Often.

.human appearance. Wild, seafoam hair that passes his jaw; straight on the top layers, the bottom layer being extra curly and longer than the straight strands. Taking a brush to it is pointless; it does it's own thing and cares not what anyone else has to say about it. Pale ( And you would be too, if you lived underground. ), athletically slender in build, and adorable toes. Red lines curtesy the Chalcedoni bloodline mark his face and arms. Usually wears baggy Japanese clothing, as he finds it 'more comfortable'. Lethe speculates he's just hiding his girl hips.
.wolf appearance. Bonified gray wolf build, compact chest and tucked tum' and all. A mane of wild, unruly and possibly living seafoam runs from the forehead to the shoulderblades. Same red markings appear, on the face and front legs. Large paws to stomp you with and a long, curly, silky tail to tickle under the lady's chins with.
.defining traits. Seems Icarus slipped out to Kumai one too many times, as Sarutahiko saw fit to fuse a black nail with his spine, just above the base of his tail. Attached to the nail is a long, unbreakable thread that holds equally durable bells. As a human, the nail migrates to his shoulder, the thread running down his right arm. Also wears a necklace with a shuck of agate attached to it at all times.
.weapon. A sword as long as he is made of red agate. They're best mates, making Icarus not someone you want to fight without a few cannon balls and submachine guns. Icarus can also become invisible, as well any object that he's holding. This advantage is sliced in half by the sound of his bells, however.

I fought the law and the law won

Among his people, Icarus was a real celebrity. Not for heroic deeds or anything, no amazing acts of bravery- rather, he got them in trouble. Lots of trouble.
Somehow, he remained a favorite of Sarutahiko, despite wandering out of the Basin almost monthly. What could he say? He liked the fresh air.
Almost as much as he liked the idea of Saruta chasing him.
The cowboy came across Nero while he was hunting with a party. Kambo, Nero's mate, immediantly caught the lady-charmer's eye, and he attempted to woo her right under her beloved's nose. Nero attempted to defend her, and Icarus drew his sword.
Luckily, Sarutahiko stepped in and reclaimed Icarus before any real damage could be done, but the appearence certianly brought the Chalcedoni and their god to the Oina's attention.

A punishment for that event, Icarus recieved a nail weilded to his spine, threads with bells strung upon them winding through the thick, silky strands of his tail. Though angry over it at first, the cowboy learned to love them.

A cruel joke went too far, and the cowboy had the unfortunate luck to pull it on the wrong person. Almost immediantly, a plot of revenge was crafted. Echo drugged Icarus and sent him to earth, where, suffering from the effects, he raped and abused a young Oina girl planted just for that purpose.
Amaterasu became furious and brought the Chalcedoni back to Sarutahiko's paws half-conscious. She had demanded his life as payment for the sin, and when consoled, traded his life for a lesser punishment; ten days of pain, five delivered by none other than Sarutahiko himself.
Icarus had never quite known a hell as harsh as this.

'And you do not listen. You will wander. You always wander.' - Sarutahiko
